The Official TERA Podcast Episode Three: Voice Acting
with Community Director Jason "Brother Magneto" Mical, Producer Brian Knox and Producer Chris Hager from EnMasse Entertainment. Today's topics: Voice Acting, News from Korea, CPE Recap and E3.
What we learn is that Voice Acting has been recorded with professional voice actors who have worked on major video games for Microsoft, Valve. The Recording session which took place in Seattle was completed for all the scripts in the game, from greeting and farewell lines to complete cinematics dialogues, and even for the upcoming content update "Dark Awakening".
Obviously news from Korea concerning the major update have arisen concerns and questions about the game: EME will be cautious about endgame as it is important since reaching level cap is quite fast. It has been confirmed that item customization, dye system, and the customization of armor's shape are in the pipeline. Critics have been heard concerning solo playing, so we will sure see some balancing between solo and party playing. PvP system has to be reworked for the Western players since voices of discontent are heard concerning the controversial declaration system, the 5-second rule. On the contrary, Guild wars should be free of the step of declaration somehow the free targeting makes it difficult to implement since it will put weight on both players and servers, so no friendly fire for the moment.
The first CPE in the US allowed an evaluation of Pandora's downloader. It was also good to test the infrastructure in place with production specs servers and data centers that will be the same at release. One of the dev, Jon Tuite has compiled data following the CPE (http://www.tera-online.com/node/702). Concerning the schedule of next events, no timing can be revealed somehow the next big thing to be tested would be the platform internally as well as externally that means account management system, the forums, the game patcher and launcher.
Finally, the E3 gaming convention will start soon at Los Angeles. We will have some more details concerning the political system and the battlegrounds. They promise a nice demo is coming up and they will try everything possible to livestream from E3. And a live Twitter interview is planned as well.
